July 30th, 2009UncategorizedWhen it comes to skincare, Allure will give pretty much anything a fair shake. Electrical pulses, deep sea algae, thermal volcano water—you name it, we'll investigate it. But I'm going to draw the line at the Japanese horse placenta drink I spotted on metafilter.com. At 5000 yen—about $57 a bottle—it claims to whiten and moisturize skin, promote tissue metabolism function (?), activate regenerative cell growth, and promote skin respiration (again, ?). Plus, the website says there's no "overt odor" so it's "easy to drink—in spite of those, oh, 30,000 milligrams of 100 percent undiluted horse-origin placenta. It also says that the placenta is harvested "while the afterbirth is still potent." Maybe the anti-aging gods will strike me down, and horse placenta will be the biggest thing since Botox, but I have one word: never.
